My Literary Crushes: A History (Guest Vlog by Leigh Ann Kopans)

Hello loyal vlog peeps! The Freak October Snowstorm from hell is still wreaking havoc on my life - namely, giving our town just enough power for me to go back to work, but not enough for me to have internet access at my house.

In surrender, I'm turning my blog over to my critique partner Leigh Ann Kopans from The Naptime Novelist. She wants to tell you all about her history of literary crushes, and I'm just as excited as you are to observe this trainwreck masterpiece of a debut right here on my blog.

Take it away, Leigh Ann!

  2. LOL. You guys are hilarious. So THAT's what you were up to on Twitter...

@Leigh Ann- LOL. 1.) NO, you don't sound like a man. 2.) You're so pretty! 3.) When you said "glasses or braces when you're younger," I was like "er..." because I have glasses AND braces right now. I know. 4.) Mr. Rochester, Darcy, Ferrars, Calvin, and Peeta are definitely high up on my list, too. In middle school, I so definitely watched ALL of PBS's Masterpiece Theatre adaptations of Jane Eyre and the Jane Austen books to see the hot guys (after reading the books of course.) 5.) Great job on including all the excerpts/quotes! Your commentary made me laugh. Especially the one for Darcy (and yes, he IS gloriously hot). 6.) woot! Chessie's drawings! I'm so glad you thought to include them. :)

Thank you both for making my morning! Now I feel better about having to wake up at 5 AM today.

  3. That was AWESOME!

I DEFINITELY sound more like a man than you do, because you do not sound like a man at all!

And you have no idea how giddy I got when you said "Prince Roderick Henry Silas". I was not expecting that. It's a good thing my roommate is still asleep.

We need to do more vlogs! We should do...I dunno...monthly or something.BUT YES. THIS WAS MADE OF WIN.

Yes, who doesn't love Mr. Darcy. Swoon. Great post. You have to do more of those.

  5. That was amazing! I loved Calvin when I was younger, too. A Wrinkle in Time is one of my all-time favorite books! I'm a sucker for Peeta and Mr. Darcy, too (love that shot from P & P). I've also recently developed crushes on Four from Divergent and Day from Legend.

  6. Your video is adorable! I love your literary crush history.

Mine started with Mellors. I read Lady Chatterly's Lover when I was fourteen and never completely recovered.

I'm also recently fell in love with Mackie Doyle from The Replacement. He is just so sweet and genuine--and I love those YA male narrators.

  11. I connected to Frugal Ima through Same Old Shannon and now I find you over here. I am a new mom and aspiring children's book writer so it has been neat to read both your blogs, Leigh Ann. And thank you, Gina, for hosting this. Hands down, Mr. Darcy is the best. But you're missing out if you haven't seen Colin Firth play Mr. Darcy. Everyone must watch the 1995 A&E production of Pride and Prejudice.
